After the gash is ground, if the end mill doesn't look right, advance the cross feed 0.001" at a time and grind closer to the tooth face. Nov 04, 2021 · It would be my opinion that end mills smaller than ¼" be sharpened only by grinding the ends, so the balance of the flutes, which may be chiefly unused, can be used. The big problem with sharpening end mills is that few have the equipment necessary to do an adequate job, and information on cutter grinding is not easy to obtain.
